Arabic center of management development

On May 28, 2008 at 17.00 there was a ceremonial opening of the Arabic center of management development. The ceremony was attended by famous Arabist scientists, representatives of Russian and foreign business, diplomats, MIRBIS partners and friends, students and teachers, and a new ambassador of one of Arabic states. The atmosphere of the evening was festive and celebratory. There was announced the beginning of a short-term study course "Pecularities of cooperation with business partners in Arabic countries".

 

 

The fundamental principle of the Arabic center foundation is the contribution to the development of Russian-Arabic research-and-technology as well as trade-economic cooperation as part of business education.
The existing stereotypes served as an impulse for foundation of the Arabic center in MIRBIS.
First of all, Arabic world can’t be considered a single space for expanding the interests of Russian business.

 Arabic states (22 Arabic states are situated on the territory of 14 mln sq. km on two continents: Africa and Eurasia, about 300 mln people live here) differ both in business style and cultural traditions, and mentality. The basic economic differences are connected with diverse specifics of home and foreign economic policy, extent of market openness, impact of religion on state affaires, development level of financial system, and involvement into world economics.
The peculiarity of Arabic assets is in close connection with the state and ruling families, the largest assets are assets of ruling families. It is most typical for such countries as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and United Arab Emirates. All state affaires are governed by either heads of families (clans) or groups close to ruling families.
Territorial nearness, almost overall domination of Islam, historical past, the same official language – all this contributes to the misbelief that the business model used in one of the countries will be effective in the other country. However, Arabic world is far from being homogeneous. There are serious differences in political order and legislation between 22 Arabic states. For example, the constitutional monarchy in Sultanate of Oman neighbours the Republic of Yemen. Similar principal differences are present in the levels of economic development, structure of national production and consumption.

 

Online course “Peculiarities of cooperation with business partners in Arabic countries”
The on-line course covers the issues of peculiar business-making and creating business relations with Arabic countries depending on their geographical location and the corresponding peculiarities of political and social-economic traits of the states (Arabic countries of Maghreb, Mashrik).
