PhD Course
MIRBIS Institute has got the PhD course for the following specialties:
- 08.00.05 – economics and national economy management (marketing, entrepreneurship, economics and management in service industries)
- 08.00.10 – finance and credit
Duration of the course: full-time – 3 years, distance – 4 years.
A student taking a full-time PhD course can get a determent of military service. According to legislation of the Russian Federation individual with a degree cannot be called to military service.
Dissertation is research whose goal is to prove one or several scientific concepts, it must be ready for public defense and getting a degree of PhD or Doctor. Persons with a sufficient store of scientific knowledge can be enrolled as candidates for taking PhD exams and completing their dissertation.
Enrollment (PhD course with tuition fee): Russian citizens and foreigners who have higher vocational education can enter the PhD course. Students must pay a tuition fee. Students’ hostel is not provided.
Principle documents that should be submitted to enter the PhD course and enroll as a candidate:
• Application for entering the PhD course
• Copy of the diploma of higher vocational education (specialist, master) and accompanying documents attested by notary
• Copy of the passport and service record
• List of published works (if any) or a scientific essay of 20-24 pages (1quire)
• Individual form of personnel registration and 4 photos.
Entrance exams to the PhD course are taken in mid September. Documents to the Enrolment department will be accepted from June 15th to September 12th (Preliminary applications are accepted from May 10th). Applicants take entrance exams on specialty, philosophy, foreign language (applicants who passed exams on philosophy and foreign language earlier shall take only exam on specialty).
Candidates can be enrolled without entrance exams all year round.
Tuition fee:
• Full-time PhD course – 270,000 rub. for three years of study
• Distance PhD course – 240,000 rub. for four years of study
• Those enrolled as candidates from 90,000 to 110,000 rub. for the first year (it depends on the store of scientific knowledge) plus 40,000 rub. for each next year.
Training is accomplished in line with the state standard. The curriculum consists of 100 hours of foreign language, 100 hours of philosophy and history of science and 280 hours of scientific specialty. Lectures are delivered by PhDs and Doctors who work in MIRBIS Institute, big educational institutions, institutes of the Russian Academy of Science. The most advanced educational technologies are used in class, such as business games, round-table discussions, lectures-discussions, trainings. The key activity of PhD student is to work at his/her dissertation with the help of scientific supervisor, discuss the dissertation materials at department seminars.
The list of defended dissertations:
MIRBIS Institute has got MBA-science program (pre-PhD training) which functions in accordance with the provisions for training scientific and pedagogical cadre in the system of post-graduate vocational education in the Russian Federation approved by order N814 of the Ministry of Education of RF dated 27.03.1998.
Graduates and students of MBA programs, undergraduate students of MIRBIS Institute and those entitled to enter the PhD course or to enroll as candidates can join MBA-science program. The specific feature of students of this program is their interest in research, creativity, orientation towards innovative spheres.
The goal of MBA-science program is:
• to get ready and to pass exams on a foreign language and philosophy of science
• orientation of diploma projects to dissertation
• expertise of scientific findings obtained while writing a final MBA paper in order to use them in the future dissertation research
• to adapt to the requirements of the Certification Committee of the Russian Federation dealing with preparation and defense of the dissertation, choice of the dissertation subject, development of the concept of the dissertation research
• preparation of scientific publication targeted at the future dissertation.
MBA-science program is designed to fulfill at least partially the curriculum of the first year in the PhD course. After completion of the program students get the Certificate of passing the candidates’ exams of the state standard.
In case the program is finished successfully students are entitled to enroll in the PhD course without taking any entrance exams or to enroll as candidates for getting a PhD degree. Students who publish their scientific articles are not supposed to write any entrance essay.
If the program of pre-PhD training is finished successfully its fee is included in the payment of the first year of studying in the PhD course.
The lessons take no more than 8 hours a week.
The duration of the program is 8 months (from 25th October to 25th June).
Enrollment for 2008/2009 academic year is starting on 15th June.
