MIRBIS History

By the initiative of Professor V.P.Groshev, the Rector of the Moscow Plekhanov Institute of National Economy (now the Russian Plekhanov Academy of Economics) and Professor Romano Prodi, the General Director of Economic Research Association ‘NOMIZMA’, Ex-president of the European Commission Moscow International Higher Business School MIRBIS (Institute) was established.

The Russian Plekhanov Academy of Economics and the Italian Association of Economic Research ‘NOMIZMA’ are the founders of MIRBIS.

 2010

• MIRBIS Bachelor programmes were for the second time re-accredited by the EPAS international accreditation of the European Association for Management Development (EFMD).
• After a competition, the Institute was selected to execute the project on study visits organization under the state contract for graduates of the President’s programme on training Managerial Staff.
• MIRBIS became an educational partner of the All-Russian Youth Forum "Seliger-2010" (section "You are an entrepreneur!").
• 2009
  The International Association of MBAs (AMBA) accredited MIRBIS MBA (Master of Business Administration) and Master programmes.

2008

2007

• MIRBIS Master programmes received state accreditation.
• The Financial Corporation "Uralsib" became the MIRBIS Institute strategic partner.
• A new academic campus of the MIRBIS Institute was brought into operation (Marksistskaya st., 34/7).

In 2006 the International MBA Association (AMBA) accredited MIRBIS master programs. MIRBIS Bachelor programs got the international accreditation of EPAS, the European Association of Management Development (EFMD)

In 2005 the annual conference of the International MBA Association (AMBA) presented to S.L.Savin, MIRBIS Rector the diploma of accreditation for all MIRBIS MBA programs for five year period up to 2010.

In 2004 MIRBIS and the journal ‘Naukovedenie’ held a round-table discussion ‘Integration of Science and Education in Modern Russia’.
MIRBIS MBA program was accredited by the International MBA Association (AMBA) which testifies to the high quality of the program and its compliance with international requirements to business education.
The Russian – Chinese Center of Business Education MIRBIS was opened.

In 2003 the number of big schools – MIRBIS partners working in the system ‘school- higher educational institution’ reached 30.
MBA program was launched in the affiliates of MIRBIS Institute.
MIRBIS Center of Public Lectures was opened within the frames of which meetings with well-known scientists, politicians and prominent economists are held.
The program for top managers – Executive MBA was developed.

In 2002 the group of Program Quality Department of the Ministry of Education of Great Britain, big British Universities, including London Metropolitan University (Guildhall) accredited MBA program for another five year period.
MIRBIS Institute got a prestigious International Golden Quality Award – 2002 at the 14th International Quality Convention QC 100 in London.
The Dissertation Board for Doctor Degree was set up in MIRBIS by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
The Club of Honourary Professors was established in MIRBIS Institute.

In 2001 the PhD course for two specializations ‘Economics and National Economy Management’ and ‘Finance, Currency Circulation and Credit’ was opened.
MIRBIS financed and conducted re-training of military men in remote locations, such as Baikonur spaceship launching site and social programs in military hospitals of Moscow and Moscow region.

In 2000 in the Wimbledon conference hall (Great Britain) first graduates of the joint program ‘International corporate finance’ got Master diplomas of Middlesex University (Great Britain).
The Center of employment and career development was established in the structure of MIRBIS Institute.
The Association of MIRBIS Alumni was set up.

In 1999 MIRBIS among 15 higher educational institutions of Russia was entitled to grant state diplomas to graduates of Master of Business Administration program.

In 1998 MIRBIS was involved in the implementation of the state program for training specialists for national economy of the Russian Federation (Presidential decree N2774 dated 23.07.97).
MIRBIS passed the strategic audit conducted by the International committee of the European Education Fund within the frames of EU project in Russia and Central Europe aimed at verifying the compliance to the requirements of international business schools.

In 1997 experts of London Guildhall University (Great Britain) accredited MBA program of MIRBIS Institute. The program of dual diploma ‘MIRBIS – London Guildhall University’ was launched.
MIRBIS Institute was visited by Professor Romano Prodi, the head of Economic Research Association ‘NOMIZMA’ (one of MIRBIS founders) who is the President of European Commission today.

In 1995 the School got the status of Higher.

In 1994 in line with the Japanese – Russian Memorandum of rendering assistance in speeding the reforms in the Russian Federation the Japanese Educational Center of Management was set up in the structure of MIRBIS.
MIRBIS became the first and the only regional examination center of the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM), Great Britain in Russia.

In 1993 MIRBIS was selected by the UN commission as a co-author of the RF report in the International annual journal ‘Competitiveness of Countries with Market Economy’ published by the Institute of Management Development, IMD (Lausanne, Switzerland) and the World Economic Forum (Geneva, Switzerland).

In 1991 the first in Russia program of re-training of officers ‘Demos’  was developed and launched , it was highly assessed by experts of the European Council in Brussels, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the US and Germany.

In 1990 for the first time the program of Master of Business Administration (MBA) was developed in Russia in this process leading scientists of 8 countries took part.

In 1988 educational institution of the new type, MIRBIS business school was founded by the agreement between the governments of the USSR and Italy. Its founders: Moscow  Plekhanov Institute of National Economy and Italian Association of Economic Research ‘NOMIZMA’.
