The term "Project" comes from the Latin "Projectus", which means - "thrown forward." Project activity is connected with the achievement of new and unique results in business, in the state, in society. The whole history of civilization, the development of business and society are related to project implementation.
Projects are implemented in all sectors and functional areas of business. Development projects may include development of new products and services, marketing campaigns, entering new markets, create new businesses and etc. Managers of all levels in the organization participate in projects – from owners and top-managers to line managers and specialists.
The need for effective project management increases with each passing year. This is due to the acceleration of scientific and technological progress, increased competition, both globally and locally. Thus, the role of manager in modern companies changes - more and more time is dedicated to projects, and careers of managers depends more and more on projects implementation.
Project management - what is it and what is the use of it?
Project management today emerged as a single practice management discipline which is widely applied in business and government bodies.
Project management includes methodology and set of tools for:

- organizing, coordinating and supervising the execution of works,
- accepting the completion of project results.
Project management allows to systematically, step by step implement the project in terms of uncertainty of the environment, lack of information, significant number of participants with different skills and conflicting interests.
What is the role of project manager? What knowledge and competencies he should have?
Project Manager – is a Manager, responsible for achieving the objectives of the project.
The project manager should be able to:
- clearly articulate goals and identify the requirements to the project results;
- plan the work to achieve the project aims (consider the risks, external and internal constraints);
- plan and organize the involvement of employees in the project, motivate participants of the project team, ensure efficient team work;
- provide monitoring over work execution, receipt and delivery of results.
