Educational Course "Islamic finance"

A short-term training course on “Islamic finance” (duration-72 academic hours) applies to the representatives of the Russian business-community, who are interested in Islamic finance as in a market sector spread not only in the East, but also in the West and other regions. The interest for this financial sector among the Russian business-community has recently significantly increased and is being constantly warmed up by numerous statements of foreign and Russian organizations about the creation of Islamic banks, insurance and investment companies in Russia.

The government supports these statements expressing its willingness to make necessary changes in law. In February 2009 Russian nearest neighbor Kazakhstan has already passed a law providing the conditions for Islamic banks to perform financial operations. Taking into account the necessity of businessmen to get the required qualification in this sphere of financing, the Economic programs Department of the Russian Council of Mufties together with the Arabic research Centre of the Moscow International High Business School MIRBIS (Institute) has developed a short-term training course program. It consists of 4 blocks, touching upon the fundamentals of Islamic law and business ethics as a source of Islamic finance, considering the principles of Islamic financing,  global experience in the sphere of Islamic finance and also to the opportunities for implementation of Islamic finance in the Russian legal framework.
The first intake of students on this course was in October 2009.
