Alexander S.Sigov was born in May 31, 1945 in Donetsk (Ukraine) in the family of civil servants. In 1962 he was a gold graduate of a high school in Kiev. In 1968 he graduated from the Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov where he got a Diploma with distinction at the Department of Physics. In 1970 he got his Ph.D in Physics in the Moscow State University and started working as a researcher in the Moscow State Institute of Radio-technology, Electronics and Automatics, where he has been working up till now.
In 1985 he defended Doctoral thesis in the field of Physics and Mathematics. In 1988 he became a full Professor and was promoted to the position of the Head of the Chair of Condensed state physics. In 1985-1998 he was elected the Dean of Faculty of Electronics and Optoelectronic technology. Since May 1998 Alexander Sigov has been the Rector of the Moscow State Institute of Radio technology, Electronics and Automatics.
Alexander Sigov is a State Award Laureate (2003) and a winner of the State prize in the field of science and technology (2000). He is an Honoured Academic of the Russian Federation (1997) and a winner of Mikhail Lomonosov Prize in the field of science and education (2003), he was awarded with many medals and branch awards of the Russian Federation.
